Allow time for both preparation and processing. The brown shades use two sachets, and the mixing method depends on whether you are covering grey. The product's processing guide allows at least one hour for non-grey hair and two to three hours for grey coverage. Keep the applied paste moist and follow the instructions supplied with your pack. Resistant grey or very light hair may need additional preparation or a Red Shadow or Copper Shadow base; test the result before a full application.

One 100g pack is generally enough for medium-length hair. Short hair or a root touch-up may use about half a pack, while long, very long or thick hair needs more. When dividing a pack, weigh both sachets separately and keep their original proportions. Repeated applications can make the colour richer and darker; once the lengths reach your preferred shade, concentrate on regrowth and refresh the lengths occasionally. As botanical colour can remain in the hair, this shade is not recommended if you plan to bleach or lighten your hair blonde later.

Directions for use

Read the pack instructions and complete strand and skin sensitivity tests before use. Choose the supplied grey or non-grey mixing method. For grey coverage using a full pack: mix Step 1 with 100ml of diluted apple cider vinegar (30ml apple cider vinegar plus 70ml comfortably warm water). Cover and allow 6–12 hours to activate. Approximately 15 minutes before application, mix Step 2 with 150ml comfortably warm water, then combine the two pastes thoroughly. Add 20–50ml extra warm water only if needed for a smooth, easy-to-spread consistency. Do not use hot or boiling water. Apply generously in sections to clean hair free from oils and styling build-up, then cover to keep the paste warm and moist. Allow at least one hour for non-grey colour and two to three hours for grey coverage; approximately three hours is generally recommended for grey in the current brown-shade guide. Use the processing time confirmed by your strand test and current pack instructions. Rinse thoroughly with conditioner to remove the paste. When using part of a pack, divide both dry sachets proportionally and scale the liquids accordingly.

Warnings & suitability

Plant ingredients can cause allergic reactions. Perform a strand test before full application and follow the skin sensitivity test guidance, particularly for first use or sensitive skin. Test the two sachets separately, 72 hours apart and on different skin areas, allowing 48 hours after each test to check for a reaction. If irritation occurs, wash off immediately; seek medical advice if symptoms persist or worsen. Wear gloves and avoid contact with eyes. If eye contact occurs, rinse with plenty of water. This shade does not lighten hair and is not recommended if you intend to bleach or lighten your hair blonde in future. Colour results vary with starting shade, hair condition and previous colouring.

Storage

Keep unused dry powders securely sealed and dry. Use activated Step 2 and the combined colour mixture for the current treatment; do not store them for a later application.
