Wonder Foods Partially Hydrolysed Guar Gum (PHGG) is a single-ingredient soluble fibre powder made from guar beans, available in 150g and 300g tubs. Choose one tub to try the format, or two, three or four tubs of the same size to keep your usual fibre powder on hand. Every option contains the same powder; only the tub size and number supplied change.

The unflavoured, odour-free powder dissolves in water and can also be mixed into juice, smoothies or food. Partial hydrolysis gives PHGG a different texture and purpose from ordinary guar gum used to thicken recipes. It also mixes differently from gel-forming psyllium husk. If texture matters to you, our PHGG and psyllium comparison explains the practical differences.

At the brand's suggested 6g serving, a 150g tub provides approximately 25 servings and a 300g tub approximately 50. The smaller tub takes up less cupboard space; the larger size contains twice as much powder. Multipacks contain separate tubs, so you can open one at a time. Compare the total price and price per tub for your selected size and pack. Two-tub packs save 5%, three-tub packs 15% and four-tub packs 17% against buying the same number of single tubs, with rounding to the nearest cent.

The ingredient is Sunfiber® partially hydrolysed guar gum. The brand describes the powder as gluten-free, non-GMO and suitable for vegan diets, and it is packed in Australia using ingredients from India. Mix the labelled serving into your chosen drink or food and maintain adequate hydration. The serving and pack comparison below helps you plan your supply without changing the amount used. Wonder Foods PHGG FAQs

Is PHGG the same as ordinary guar gum for baking?

They come from the same plant, but the powders behave differently. Partial hydrolysis reduces the thickness of guar gum, making PHGG a soluble fibre ingredient that mixes into drinks and food. Ordinary guar gum is commonly used as a thickener. Choose the ingredient specified in your recipe; do not use this PHGG as a like-for-like thickener substitute.

Do the 150g, 300g and multipacks contain the same powder?

Yes. Each option contains Wonder Foods plain PHGG with Sunfiber® partially hydrolysed guar gum as the listed ingredient. Select 150g or 300g for the amount in each tub, then choose one, two, three or four tubs. A multipack contains separate tubs of the selected size, rather than one larger tub.

How many servings are in each size and pack?

Using the brand's suggested 6g serving, each 150g tub provides approximately 25 servings and each 300g tub approximately 50. The 150g one-, two-, three- and four-tub options contain approximately 25, 50, 75 and 100 servings respectively. The corresponding 300g options contain approximately 50, 100, 150 and 200 servings. These are supply calculations, not a personalised dosing recommendation.

How are the multipack savings calculated?

Single tubs are sold at the standard single-tub price. A two-tub pack saves 5%, a three-tub pack 15% and a four-tub pack 17% compared with buying the same number of single tubs of that size. Pack prices are rounded to the nearest cent. Use the selected pack's total and price per tub to compare value; the discount changes the price, not the serving size.

How do I mix Wonder Foods PHGG?

The brand's main PHGG directions specify 4 rounded teaspoons, approximately 6g, in a glass of water. It can also be added to smoothies, juice or food. Maintain adequate hydration and follow the directions on your tub. For broader preparation context, see our PHGG preparation and serving guide; your label and personal advice take precedence.

Is Wonder Foods PHGG gluten-free, vegan and FODMAP Friendly?

The brand lists the plain PHGG powder as gluten-free, non-GMO and suitable for vegan diets. Its FODMAP information states certification at a 5g serving. Serving size matters: the main product directions describe approximately 6g, so do not assume the certification covers every amount. Check the current packaging and speak with your dietitian about the portion that fits your plan.

What is the difference between plain PHGG and PHGG Plus?

Plain PHGG has partially hydrolysed guar gum as its listed ingredient. Wonder Foods PHGG Plus 180g combines PHGG with Bacillus coagulans MTCC 5856 (LactoSpore®). It is a different formula with its own label and directions, rather than a size or pack variation of this product.

What should I check before increasing fibre intake?

Read the directions and warning panel on your tub and maintain adequate hydration. The brand cautions that foods containing fibre may cause abdominal discomfort in susceptible individuals. If you need personalised advice about fibre intake, medicines or dietary requirements, ask your health professional.

Directions for use

The brand's main PHGG product directions specify 4 rounded teaspoons (approximately 6g) in a glass of water. It can also be added to smoothies, juice or food. Maintain adequate hydration and follow the directions on your tub. See the FODMAP FAQ for the brand's separate 5g certified-serving guidance.

Warnings & suitability

Always read the label and follow the directions for use. As with other foods that contain fibre, this product may cause abdominal discomfort in susceptible individuals. Maintain adequate hydration.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C. Keep tightly sealed to maintain freshness.

I have used Sunfiber before but the supply from America became very erratic and I had to wait months sometimes for it to arrive in Australia.

Dosage says 4 rounded teaspoons 5 gram.
1 teaspoon is 5 grams in Australia
Do i take 1 rounded teaspoon ?

Eco Traders Australia

Hi Vicki, thank you for checking. An Australian teaspoon holds 5 mL, but this does not mean every teaspoon of powder weighs 5 g. PHGG is very light, so the manufacturer’s recommended serving is 4 rounded teaspoons, approximately 6 g in total.

For the most accurate measurement, you can weigh out 6 g. If you are new to PHGG, consider starting with a smaller amount and gradually increasing, while maintaining adequate hydration.
